About our services

Providing Creative Solutions For You!

In detail, our expert team of engineers also have a plethora of skills that we can apply to any home or business.

Here is a list of just some of the heating solutions that we can provide:

Boiler Installs

If your boiler is more than 10 years old then you may want to consider replacing it with a new high-efficiency condensing boiler which can help you lower your annual fuel bills and your home’s carbon footprint.

Consequently, an old non-condensing boiler, whether a Conventional, System or Combi Boiler, is only around 75% efficient whereas a new Condensing boiler can be approximately 90% efficient. This is a significant difference and can help users to reduce their annual energy bills by up to £600.

Gas, Oil, Electric & LPG Boiler Installation

In addition, at Bumford Heating we have been installing a range of boilers, including Gas, Oil, LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas) Solid Fuel and Renewable Systems, since 1968. We have worked on countless high-profile installations across Yorkshire and the surrounding regions for local authorities and national contractors and have gained great respect within the industry.

Furthermore, our highly professional sales team can help advise you on identifying what kind of boiler you have and what options would be ideal for your requirements when choosing to replace your boiler. Also, our fully qualified and experienced team of engineers can install and service your boiler ensuring its reliability and energy efficiency.

What Type of Boiler Can We Install?

In particular, Bumford’s are specialists in the installation and servicing of gas boilers, gas appliances, gas-fired central heating systems as well as electric boilers.

Gas Boilers are one of the most common boilers found in many homes, they run on natural gas which is piped across the nation, directly into most homes within the UK. For those who live in off-gas areas, there are alternatives to natural gas boilers including LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas), Oil and Solid Fuel.

Overall, there are three main types of gas boilers, available on the market, Conventional (also called Heat Only or Regular) gas boilers, combination gas boilers, and system Gas Boilers. Combination gas boilers have become very popular in recent years as they are able to provide instant hot water at any time meaning no waiting for the hot water cylinder to heat up.

Particularly with a Combination Boiler, there is no need for a feed/expansion tank in the loft or hot water cylinder freeing up valuable living. Combination Boilers are suitable for small houses, bungalows and flats with a single bathroom.

Gas Boiler

Gas Boilers are one of the most common boilers found in many homes, they run on natural gas which is piped, across the nation, directly into most homes within the UK. For those who live in off-gas areas, there are alternatives to natural gas boilers including LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas), Oil and Solid Fuel.

In view of gas boilers have become very popular in recent years as they are able to provide instant hot water at any time meaning no waiting for the hot water cylinder to heat up. With a Combination Boiler, there is no need for a feed/expansion tank in the loft or hot water cylinder freeing up valuable living. Combination Boilers are suitable for small houses, bungalows and flats with a single bathroom.

Conventional and System Gas Boilers are more suited to medium to large properties with more than one bathroom as they work on the principle of stored hot water. The hot water they generate is stored in large volumes in a hot water cylinder that is capable of providing multiple outlets in homes with a large demand for hot water. As well as a hot water cylinder with a conventional or system gas boiler a feed/expansion cold water tank is also required in the loft. The main difference between a system and a conventional boiler is that a system boiler incorporated a built-in central heating pump and expansion vessel which would be added separately to a heating system with a conventional gas boiler.

Also with a system gas boiler, the central heating system is sealed and so an unvented hot water cylinder is required, once the central heating system is filled with water it should not require any additional water, unlike a conventional gas boiler system which is periodically topped up via the feed/expansion cold water tank in the loft.

The cost of a new gas boiler installation can vary from household to household, contact us today to organise a quote!

Oil Boiler

Oil Boilers run on heating oil used to provide heating and hot water to households and are a popular alternative to natural gas for those without a mains gas supply. There are different kinds of Oil Boilers available on the market including Regular Oil Boilers, Combi Oil Boilers and System Oil Boilers. All are uniquely designed for different types of Properties. Generally, an Oil Combi Boiler is suitable for use in small houses, bungalows and flats with only a single bathroom. With an Oil Combi Boiler users can benefit from the convenience of instant hot water with is generated by the boiler when demand for hot water is made. Therefore with an Oil Combi Boiler, there is no need for a hot water cylinder or feed/expansion cold water tank in the loft and so freeing up valuable living space.

Regular and System Oil Boilers are more suited to medium to large properties with more than one bathroom as they work on the principle of stored hot water. The hot water they generate is stored in large volumes in a hot water cylinder that is capable of providing multiple outlets in homes with a large demand for hot water. The difference between a Regular and System Oil Boiler is that a system boiler has both a central heating pump and an expansion vessel built into the boiler, unlike a regular boiler.

Also with a system oil boiler, the central heating system is sealed therefore once the central heating circuit is filled it should not require topping up with water, unlike a regular boiler where the central heating system is periodically topped up via the feed/expansion tank. Furthermore, each type of Oil Boiler is available in different output options providing more flexibility when choosing the right Oil Boiler for your requirements.

In most cases, Oil Boilers nowadays are condensing Oil Boilers and are capable of reclaiming any latent heat within the waste gases which would otherwise be lost by a non-condensing boiler. A Condensing Oil Boiler has a secondary heat exchanger and the waste flue gases are redirected over this before being expelled. The secondary heat exchanger can reduce the flue gas temperature by around 55°C which is a significant amount of energy. This can help household reduce their fuel consumption and in turn, reduce their fuel bills which is good news for heating oil users. The reduced fuel consumption also means that the home’s carbon footprint is also significantly reduced making the heating and hot water systems more environmentally friendly.

Worcester Greenstar External Insitu
Electric Boiler

Most importantly, electric Boilers have many advantages over gas or oil boilers, as the world advances, electric boilers are becoming more and more efficient. As we all look towards more renewable energy, electric boilers don’t burn fossil fuels and have the capability to be connected to solar panels. Electric boilers also have no risk of carbon monoxide leaks making them safer for your home.

On the positive side, the installation of an electric boiler is simple due to its compact size and light construction, and because they are powered by electricity, they don’t require a flue or fuel supply. Without a doubt, electric boilers are suitable for small to medium homes but are not suitable for larger homes/properties that require a high demand for hot water or heating.

Unlike gas boilers, their electric counterparts have nearly 100% energy-efficient (The energy efficiency of boilers intended for domestic use is rated in bands: A – 90% and above. B – 86-90%. C – 82-86%) and you need fewer units of energy to produce the same amount of heat.

There are three types of electric boilers available, Heat Only – which provides heat directly to your radiator and connects to a water tank to provide hot water to your home. System Boilers – Like a heat-only option, the components that are external in a heat-only boiler, such as valves or pumps, are built into the body of the system boiler. Combi boiler – Combi boilers heat up the water for your taps and radiators on demand. Not requiring an external hot water cylinder, making it suitable for properties with limited space.
