Heat emitters selected for the room—not simply the available wall
Bumfords supplies, replaces and installs radiators and other suitable wet-system heat emitters. We consider heat loss, water temperature, room use, available space, pipework, controls and appearance before recommending the right solution.

The right radiator starts with the heat the room needs
Radiators are part of a complete heating system. A visually impressive model can still leave a room uncomfortable if its output is unsuitable for the building, flow temperature or intended use.
Bumfords considers the room dimensions, insulation, glazing, external walls, desired temperature and heating-system design. We then look at sensible positions, pipe routes, valves and controls before helping you choose an appropriate style.
This becomes especially important with lower-temperature systems, where an existing small radiator may need a larger surface area or a different type of emitter to provide the required heat.
Practical, designer and specialist options
Panel radiators
A practical choice for many homes, available in different heights, widths and panel configurations to meet the calculated output and available space.
Vertical and designer radiators
Useful where wall space is limited or the radiator forms part of the interior design. Style must still be balanced with output, weight and installation requirements.
Towel radiators and heat emitters
Towel rails can warm towels and contribute heat, but the room may require additional output. We assess the complete requirement rather than relying on appearance alone.

Radiators to suit the output, space and room design
Depending on the project, Bumfords can help with conventional panel radiators, vertical models, column-style radiators, towel emitters and more design-led options.
We first establish the required output, dimensions and connection arrangements, then consider the models, finishes and formats capable of meeting them. Where appropriate, we can source directly from manufacturers including Zehnder.
- Horizontal and vertical formats
- Contemporary and traditional designs
- Options for awkward wall spaces
- Suitable colour and finish choices
- Output considered at the intended flow temperature

Send the requirement
Provide the postcode, room information, photographs, heating-system details and the style you have in mind.
Check suitability
We assess likely heat output, positioning, existing pipework, controls, access and any related system issues.
Agree the radiator
Suitable models, sizes, valves and finishes are selected and the work is clearly quoted.
Fit and commission
The agreed emitter is installed, connected and checked as part of the wet heating system.
More than replacing one rectangle with another
A radiator change can involve pipe alterations, wall-fixing considerations, valve replacement, system draining, water treatment and balancing. Larger designer radiators can also be heavy and require appropriate fixing arrangements.
Where a room remains cold, we consider whether the cause is insufficient output, restricted flow, poor balancing, a valve or control problem, sludge, pipework or the heat source. Replacing the radiator without understanding the cause may not solve it.

Position, pipework, valves, fixing and system balance all contribute to a successful installation.

Frequently asked questions
How do you determine the correct radiator size?
We consider the room dimensions, heat loss, glazing, insulation, desired temperature and heating-system operating temperatures. The appropriate radiator is selected to provide the required output under those conditions.
Can you install designer and vertical radiators?
Yes, where the radiator is suitable for the required output, wall construction, pipework and system. Bumfords can assess a range of practical and design-led options.
Can you move a radiator to another wall?
Often, but feasibility depends on the floor, pipe route, wall construction, room layout and the rest of the heating system. We assess this before quoting.
Will a new radiator fix a room that stays cold?
Only if the radiator or its output is the cause. Cold rooms can also result from restricted circulation, valves, controls, balancing, insulation, pipework or heat-source issues, so diagnosis matters.
Are larger radiators needed for lower-temperature heating?
Often a larger surface area or a different emitter is required because heat output reduces as water temperature falls. The correct choice depends on the calculated room requirement and intended system temperatures.
Do you fit towel radiators?
Yes, for suitable wet heating systems. A towel radiator may not provide all the heat a bathroom needs, so its output and the room requirement should be checked.
How much does radiator installation cost?
Work is survey and quotation dependent. Cost varies with the radiator, valves, pipe alterations, wall construction, access and any additional heating-system work.
