New boiler installation across South Yorkshire
A new boiler chosen for your home—not just fitted in place of the old one
Survey-led replacement and new-boiler installation across Sheffield, Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and surrounding areas. We consider heating load, hot-water demand, controls and the wider system before recommending the right solution.
Survey-led boiler replacement
Replacing the appliance is only part of the job
A boiler that is too large, too small or poorly matched to the hot-water system can disappoint even when it is brand new. Existing radiators, cylinders, controls, pipework, water pressure and system cleanliness also affect performance.
We look at what the property actually needs and what you want to improve. That may include better hot-water performance, simpler controls, more even temperatures, a different boiler location or a system that is easier to maintain.
For straightforward projects, photographs and system information may allow us to provide an initial estimate. A firm quotation will normally follow the checks needed to specify the work properly.
A genuine Bumfords installation
See a boiler installation taking shape
This time-lapse and close-up footage follows one of our engineers through a Worcester Bosch combi-boiler installation, from the working area and connections through to the fitted appliance.
Every home and heating system is different, but the video provides a useful view of the practical work, preparation and attention involved in replacing a boiler properly.
Example installation footage. The boiler, controls and connected work required are specified for each individual property.
What the installation may include
A complete boiler-installation service
Boiler and system specification
Boiler format and output considered alongside the building, hot-water demand, available fuel and present heating system.
Removal and replacement
Careful removal of the old appliance and installation of the agreed boiler, flue, condensate arrangements and required connections.
Controls and zoning
Suitable thermostats, programmers or smart controls, with zoning considered where it provides a practical benefit.
System preparation
Assessment of system water and circulation, with cleaning, flushing, filters or treatment included where justified by condition and manufacturer requirements.
Cylinders and connected work
Hot-water cylinders, pumps, valves, radiators and associated heating components considered where the project requires more than the boiler alone.
Commissioning and handover
Testing, commissioning and an explanation of the key controls, documentation and ongoing servicing requirements.
Choosing the boiler arrangement
Combi, system or heat-only?
The format of the boiler should match the property’s heating and hot-water demand. A combination boiler is not automatically the best modern replacement, particularly where several bathrooms or outlets may be used together.
Combination boiler
Provides heating and hot water without a separate cylinder. It can be a space-saving option where mains-water performance and simultaneous demand are suitable.
System boiler
Works with a hot-water cylinder and can suit households requiring a larger stored supply or hot water at multiple outlets.
Heat-only boiler
Often works well with traditional or more complex systems. Retaining a suitable existing arrangement can sometimes avoid unnecessary alterations.
Bumfords also installs oil, LPG and electric boilers where appropriate. Those fuel choices require additional consideration of storage, electrical capacity, operating costs and property suitability. See our Boilers & Heating overview or select the relevant route below.
Worcester Bosch Accredited Installer
Manufacturer knowledge backed by wider heating experience
Bumfords has extensive experience installing Worcester Bosch boilers and is an accredited installer. Accreditation is useful, but the product still has to be correctly selected and integrated with the complete heating system.
We consider the boiler, controls, hot-water arrangement, emitters and system water together. Where another type of solution deserves consideration, we explain the practical options rather than forcing every property into the same package.

Boiler installation pricing
What affects the cost of a new boiler?
The boiler itself is only one part of the price. A simple replacement in the same position differs from a change of boiler type, relocation, cylinder upgrade or installation requiring extensive system alterations.
Specification, warranty options and required accessories.
Access, working space, plume considerations and making good.
Pipework, water quality, circulation, radiators and controls.
Cylinder, tanks, mains-water performance and bathroom demand.

Frequently asked questions
New boiler installation: useful answers
Can you give me a boiler estimate from photographs?
For a straightforward replacement, photographs and accurate details may allow us to provide an initial estimate or likely range. A firm quotation may require a survey to check sizing, flue and condensate routes, access, controls, pipework and system condition.
How do you decide what size boiler I need?
We consider the property’s heating requirement, emitters and hot-water demand rather than relying on the output of the old boiler alone. The correct approach depends on the boiler type and system design.
Is a combi boiler suitable for every home?
No. A combi can be convenient and space saving, but it may not suit high simultaneous hot-water demand or poor incoming mains-water performance. A stored-water system may be more appropriate.
Do I need my system powerflushed with a new boiler?
Not automatically. The system must be suitably clean and protected, but the appropriate cleaning method depends on its condition. We recommend powerflushing only where the evidence and system requirements justify it.
Can you move the boiler to a different location?
Often, subject to a suitable flue and condensate route, pipework, access, ventilation where applicable and the practical impact of alteration. A relocation normally requires a survey before a firm quotation.
Can you install oil, LPG or electric boilers?
Yes, where appropriate. Each fuel has different requirements, including storage or electrical capacity, and the likely operating costs and property suitability should be considered before selection.
Do you offer finance for boiler installation?
Finance options may be available, subject to status, eligibility and the lender’s current terms. Ask us to confirm the products available for your proposed installation.
Which areas do you cover?
Our core area is South Yorkshire, including Sheffield, Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and the smaller towns between them. We also consider suitable work in West Yorkshire and North Derbyshire.
