One of Bumford Heating's longest serving employees has retired after 40 years with the Barnsley based central heating installers .
Ivor Barnett joined Bumford Heating Limited when he was 25 after meeting the current managing director Chris Bumford. Initially Ivor worked as a heating engineer and plumber but then moved into a sales role. "Its been a brilliant experience" he said.
"Bumford Heating have been a great company to work for and its not just been the support but the friendship too"
A leaving do was held at Bumford Heating's offices in Barnsley attended by staff and some of the key suppliers and manufacturers including City Plumbing, Glow-worm Boilers and James Hargreaves Plumbers Merchants.
Managing Director Chris Bumford paid tribute to Ivor. He said "Ivor has undertaken between 6 and 8 installations per week for the past 40 years. Bumford Heating have installed over 55,000 heating systems throughout the north of England in the 42 years that we have been in business. A great number of these will have involved Ivor"
Ivor, who lives in Sheffield plans to spend his retirement visiting his daughter and her family in London, playing squash, gardening and DIY.
