Gas Safe is the national watchdog for gas safety in the United Kingdom. Gas Safe's goal is to make people safer when they use trades people. Gas Safe strive to improve standards in the industry and help you find and use safe and competent trades people.
If you are having gas work done in your home the person doing the work must be Gas Safe registered. They must also hold the correct qualifications to do the type of work you need. Make sure that your installer shows you the Gas Safe ID card before they start work.

HETAS is the official body recognised by government to approve solid fuel domestic heating appliances, fuels and services. Its work in Approving products covers boilers, cookers, open fires and stoves and room heaters. It also lists in its Official 2007 Guide, factory made chimneys and carbon monoxide detectors and alarms suitable for use with solid fuel.
